The Aurrie (pronounced aw-ry) is located just off the beach in the middle of the picturesque and historic Fife village of Lower Largo. From 1867 until 2021 the building was the Largo Baptist Hall. The Aurrie is now a café open year round for great coffee, breakfast and light meals. The neighbouring Aurrie Mor was the Church of Scotland and is now an event space regularily hosting public events, and is is also avaible for private hire .
And why is it called "The Aurrie" ? It's from the old Scots name for "area" which is generally regarded as the root of the many spellings of the slipway road that leads to the beach. (Though don't ask a local as there are as many opinions on the spelling as there are grains of sand on the beach ... well almost.)
